Workshop with Spoken Word Poety Ty’rone Haughton
VK Poetry Off the Page, Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik.
Spoken word poet Ty’rone Haughton will visit the VK Poetry Off the Page (Julia Lajta-Novak) on 26 May to perform some of his poetry, answer the students’ questions, and engage them in creative activities.
Ty’rone (ti-rone) Haughton is a Jamaican born, Leicester based poet, freelance practitioner, advocate and former looked after child. Ty’rone’s poetry focuses on social observations, identity and vulnerabilities. Ty’rone’s writing is distinct, it is gentle yet brutal in approach. Ty’rone uses meticulous lyricism and storytelling to invite his audience in before punching them in the throat.
You can find out more about him on https://www.thaughtonpoetry.com.
This workshop is organized by Poetry Off the Page in collaboration with ViennaLit Literaturverein and Renaissance One.

Together with Ass.-Prof. Dr. phil. Dieter Fuchs, M.A. and MMag. Dr. Tamara Radak from the Centre for Irish Studies, the Poetry off the Page team organised a guest lecture by the Pulitzer Prize winner and poet Paul Muldoon. In this lecture, Muldoon read from his published work and spoke about poetry in performance.
We really enjoyed the wonderful lecture, as well as the productive collaboration with our colleagues from CIS and look forward to more projects like this in the future!
